Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas tidy. The reach truck is available in several types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is commonly utilized. This version consists of telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is required within warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
