Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries during 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed clients and thus, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into manufacturing telehandlers, stick booms, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values as a result of the economic slump in the start of the 2000s, when they partnered with Terex. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is dedicated to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to lessening waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on offering exceptional support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
The DC and Bi-Energy equipment offered by Genie provide quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work settings. Where the equipment must be driven significant distances, such as in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator with the benefits of a 48V DC machinery.
Compared to any of the various kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access areas in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These machinery deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need in order to travel around the job area and work site.
