Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of machinery are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Rider" versions and "Walkie" models.
The walkie model as the name implies, is made to allow the operator to walk along the machinery while they lift and transport loads. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances within manufacturing applications and warehouses. They are really fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to pick up and transport tall or unstable loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider could be the right answer if you are searching for a cheap method for transporting cargo from point A to point B. If though, you should transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the right alternative.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machinery designed specially for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Normally, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle that can function in smaller aisles. They are extremely useful pieces of equipment in cycle counting situations as well as during physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more popular.
