An emergency eyewash post must be located near the charging place. The route to the post should not be blocked and an injured worker must be able to go to the eyewash post from the charging place in 10 seconds without running.
Charger Safety
The battery and charger should be at the same amperage. It should be turned off while the battery is being plugged in.
Open Flames
Open flames are not allowed near a charging area and battery. Never allow items such as matches or lighters to be used when an employee is inspecting the battery fluid levels.
Ventilation
The battery charging are also has to be correctly ventilated. The recharging method can cause fumes to be released. These fumes are both explosive and poisonous.
